I had a date on my calendar to travel up to Sun City and retrieve the 500 where it was being displayed at Merkel Weiss’ house on the evening of one of his car nights. I was hoping to catch Jay Leno at this event, but he did not attend this particular night. The 500 got all the attention and with over 80 cars in attendance, it easily stole the show.
2008 FIAT 500 in SoCal!
The all-new 2008 FIAT 500 has come to the U.S! Jim Magill has brought his Cinquecento from Ireland and has driven it across the U.S. where it has seen many adventures from New York to San Francisco to Las Vegas and now Los Angeles. Come attend a gathering in Dana Point to inspect the car, learn about its features and it’s charitable cause for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
Sunday August 3rd at 2pm
Afternoon to include a late-lunch buffet, screening of the original 1969 film “The Italian Job” and photo shoot with the 500. Bring your FIAT or other Italian automobile!
FIAT 500 arrives in Dana Point
Jim and Alan have arrived at my home in Dana Point and after an evening of food, drink and live music at a couple of the local watering holes, we woke with much hangover (at least I did) and then sent the car off to it’s next stop. After breakfast at the local diner, I took Jim and Alan to LAX for their flight home to Dublin. I shall be meeting up with the 500 later in the week.
FIAT 500 Coming to the U.S.
The reborn FIAT 500 is enroute to New York!

Newly designed, and reminiscent of the original “Cinquecento”, the 500 will be taking a tour of the States this summer and SoCal X1/9 will play host in August. Jim Magill, who is bringing the car here, will also be raising funds in aid of the Northern Ireland Chilren’s Hospice. You can learn more about this charity here.
Stay tuned for more information on his arrival!
